When a neglected plot of Curaçao beach steals the heart of an irrepressible entrepreneur, five family villas are bound to be more than just that.

After all, it would be a waste to let the beautiful white sand and waving palms unappreciated for most of the year.

Ad van der Valk and his partner Bibi dreamed up a luxury resort – building their lagoon single-handedly. Rock after rock after rock.

Bibi Island in the center of the bay is a homage to his eponymous girlfriend.

The name Baoase eternalized their love.

The oasis of Ad and Bibi or – in their native language – Bibi’s en Ad’s oase. Baoase.

As a sign of unbreakable love, Bibi Island breaks the waves approaching the shore.

Along with first five villas and the Master Villa, it is the start of Baoase.

Since 2013, the dream has been flourishing in the hands of management couple, daughter Jesse and her husband, Oliver.

Today, Baoase consists of 23 luxury rooms, suites, and villas.

Bibi handpicked, with the help of other family members, all elements of the interior design for every one of the accommodations – in a warm Balinese style.

The resort is completely built around the Banyan Tree, which is more than 75 years old, to preserve this amazing tree. In Indonesia women will come to this tree to pray for eternal love.

The Banyan Tree us considered sacred, because it lives for eons.

The five villas surrounding a saltwater infinity pool arose from the need to make family members feel welcome at any time.

Nothing has changed.

Baoase still aims to greet guests like a dear family member or a long-lost friend.

Since its opening, Baoase received various honors – from a spot on the Condé Nast Traveler Hot List to a Tripadvisor award for most romantic hotel of the Caribbean.

Besides the beautiful scenery and impeccable personal service, Baoase also has its own restaurant at the heart of the resort.

Executive Chef René Klop adds tropical influences and Asian flavors to his French techniques creating gastronomy with a sandals-and-sundress-attitude.

It is a cuisine that does not exclusively attracts guests or locals to the tucked-away lagoon.

Chef Klop invited many Michelin chefs over to create unforgettable one-night-only dinners during the returning Vive la Gastronomie events.

The efforts have Baoase Culinary Beach Restaurant rated as the best restaurant of the island, as well as listed one of the 50 Best Caribbean Restaurants according to CaribJournal.

Tucked away behind the old Banyan Tree lies our beautiful Loft Room.

With space for 1 to 4 guests, a modern bathroom with rain shower and outdoor porch with views of the fairytale-like Banyan Tree, the Loft Room is the ultimate island retreat.

Our beautiful Colonial Room is the largest of its category and is located on the second floor above the Front Office.

With its modern bathroom with rain shower and double vanity and intimate balcony with a mesmerizing view of the resort, the room is the perfect island getaway. 

Banyan Tree Room is the ultimate hideaway for two.

The personal oasis has hardwood floors and high colonial ceilings, an outdoor bathroom with shower, bath and high cobblestone walls and an intimate outdoor patio with views over the beautiful gardens. The Run of the House guarantees a stay in one of our beautiful standard rooms but also gives the opportunity to be upgraded to one of our breathtaking suites or villas upon arrival.
