Over 30 years ago, my wife Keenie and I were in search of the perfect Caribbean island.

We discovered Anguilla and have called it our home ever since.

The inspiration for our elegant grand mansion was the original Malliouhana Hotel, built and operated by the late Leon Roydon on Meads Bay.

Like Mr. Roydon and his Malliouhana, I too share a passion for perfection, collecting antiques, Haitian art, beautiful architecture, and interior design.

It’s taken 10 years to perfect our vision.

Handcrafted in stone, brick, and cedar wine racks, the cellar is designed in a Tuscan style, with a barrel-vault ceiling.

Over 1,600 bottles of wine are protected with state-of-the-art temperature and humidity controls.

A tour through our cellar is like a visit to an art gallery, with Geoffrey Fieger’s Private Collection appealing to the most sophisticated oenophile.

As part of the Quintessence ultra-luxury experience, our guests are invited to intimate tastings in The Q Cellar, hosted by our esteemed Sommelier Albert Lake, who will help you find the best pairings to complement Chef Dominique’s cuisine.

Traditional English afternoon tea is available at Quintessence.

High Tea on the Terrace includes tea pastries, finger sandwiches, scones and premium teas, served on Q Hotel’s newly expanded patio, surrounded by lush gardens featuring a stunning ocean view.

Pastries, prepared by Chef Joyah Gumbs, include almond sugar cookies, banana chocolate muffins, lemon bars and dark chocolate brownies.

Finger Sandwiches range from mint cucumber lavender, egg salad, quiche and smoked salmon cream cheese.

Traditional and mandarin orange scones with clotted cream, lemon curd and jams also are presented, and special selections supplement the menu daily.

Quintessence offers a wide variety of the finest organic teas from Malongo and Tea Forté, along with champagne and mimosas.
